Please join fellow Columbia alumni for an enjoyable evening of classical music November 1 with the Northwestern Alumni Club of Michigan, which is co-sponsoring the event. We'll experience the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's performance of Mozart & Brahms, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Kirill Gerstein performing Brahms's monumental First Piano Concerto. As part of this, we’ll have the opportunity to watch the dynamic and inspiring leader of the DSO, Jader Bignamini, now in his fifth year leading the orchestra.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. in the DSO's Paradise Lounge, where we'll connect with fellow alumni over beverages and light bites available for purchase. Then we'll head to the 8 p.m. concert to enjoy a program that traces from Mozart's beloved comic opera overture through Brahms's passionate First Piano Concerto and Schoenberg's lushly harmonized early work.
