Please join the Columbia Alumni Association of Michigan and Maria Rivero González from RGNY Winery (https://rgnywine.com/) as we host a virtual wine tasting for Columbia University alumni and friends.

Getting into making and marketing wine seemed far afield from Maria’s chosen field of study when she graduated from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Ultimately, the pull of the wine business proved too hard to resist.

Maria will kick-off our event at 7 p.m. on August 12 with the tale of how she got into the wine industry. She will also cover the founding of the RGNY winery, wine trends, the winemaking process, how COVID-19 is affecting the wine business, and more.

Following her introduction, she will take participants through the how-to techniques for tasting wine like a pro. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions before the program closes.

The RGNY team suggests you try the following wine varieties from their portfolio; however, guests are welcome to drink what they have on hand or select a Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, or Rosé from their local wine shop: 

• 2018 RGNY Pinot Noir 

• 2018 Scielo Sauvignon Blanc 

• 2018 Scielo Rosé
